4-day Training Course on Bamboo Flute Playing on July 9-12, 2023, taught by Mr. Gilbert Oliveros and wife under the auspices of the Fr Mike’s Memorial Arts Center Inc.

Thirty four pupils and students and three teachers from seven elementary schools and three high schools of Tayum participated in the four-day Training Seminar on Bamboo Flute Playing given by Mr. Gilbert Oliveros, a renown national trainor on Bamboo Flute Playing with his wife, Tess, at the Fr Mike’s Memorial Arts Center Inc, in Tayum, Abra last July 9-12.

The seminar training was the third of the series of trainings sponsored by the Fr Mike’s memorial Arts center incorporated (FMMACI). The Training culminated with a short Recognition program where the partipants showcased their learning and where they received certificates of attendance. The well- known bamboo advocate and considered the mother of bamboo development in the Province of Abra, international figure Miss Carmelita Bersalona lauded the initiative of the FMMACI to hone the talents of the young and to promote the bamboo, a priced treasure of Abra. Miss Bersalona who was also Fr Mike’s teacher in high school at the Saint Joseph Seminary in Galicia Pidigan Abra, expressed joy at the opportunities given to the youngsters by the sponsoring family. Also in attendandance in the said program was multi-awarded former Tayum Central School principal, Mrs. Victoria Elfante. She likewise expressed appreciation to the sponsors and the trainors for bringing out the talents of the participants and she expressed hope that the participants would share their learned skill to their fellow youth
